A very rare and beautiful Trevaise iridescent vase, footed triangular shape with triangular rim, deep purple decorated with iridescent blue and silver undulating King Tut Pattern. Purple Trevaise is considered to be rare. 10" tall with only minor shelf wear on bottom of foot. Trevaise art glass was the product of Alton Glass works and was only produced in 1907 and 1908. In 1907, Cardinio F. King established the Alton Glass works from the remnants of the Sandwich Glass Co, hiring its experienced and skilled craftsmen. Trevaise was developed by workers that King hired from Tiffany and other major art glass studios. Most importantly, the hiring of an exceptionally talented artisian, Tiffany gaffer and Sandwich MA native, James H. Grady. Grady, was one of only eight gaffers, or shop heads ever to work for Tiffany. An example of this vase is pictured on page 33 of "Miller's Art Glass: How to Compare & Value" by Louise Luther 2002, and also in volume 11 2001 of "The Acorn" Journal of the Sandwich Glass Museum page

Thank you Frank! I don't come across Trevaise very often, usually someone stating that it is without any documentation and in a shape that doesn't seem to be Trevaise. Your friend wrote a fantastic article on a little known subject. I would love to see your pieces, I'm sure they are spectacular.
