Antique dagger I dug up. Does any body know what it is?

This was discovered several years ago 10 miles north of Austin, Texas. Clearly it is hand crafted. Iron blade with faint remaining blade engraving. Unknown symbol at the base of the blade. handle is a brass-like material and insure if handle "inlay" is ivory or bone. I often scan for arrowheads and such, but this was the big find but I am unsure exactly what it is or what era it's from. Looking for leads or input.
