I may have found some information on the origin of this dragon. In ancient Vietnam the Dongsong had a deity in the form of a water dragon. The early version had three claws. I also found reference that the Greek key design was used by the Dongson people of Vietnam. What do you think?

I really like this brass plate. It has a three clawed character. I would assume it is a dragon, but it looks somewhat like a sea serpent. It measures 9-7/8". It is heavier than most decorator pieces I've seen. Very large pontil type mark. Pretty cool.
Really love this Sunnybrook and it looks old too. This might help you ID the country it came from. Unless it's a Western dragon. :)
In general, Chinese dragons have five toes, Korean dragons have four toes and Japanese dragons have three toes.
Thank you mikelv85, I could not remember how to identify the country by the toes of a dragon. I enjoy both Asian art and metals. This was a bonus!
