I inherited this lamp from my grandmother. It's about five feet tall, appears to be made of brass, and there are stone accents at the base. The stone is always cool to the touch, so I suspect it's marble or maybe alabaster.The globe is not original; it was broken when I was young. I've looked all over it for a brand, but thus far have only found what looks to be a patent or model number. If anyone has any information about this lamp, I'd love to hear it!
Just after the second world war they started to make these torchieres. The first ones about 1947 were all metal bases and then they started to use an imitation marble on the bottoms. I believe both pieces at bottom may be akro agate glass which most lamps of that era, early 1950's had. They were poured and mixed to resemble marble. The pics make it a bit hard to tell for sure. Most of these torchiere lamps were either golden finished or chrome plated. Its a beautiful lamp.
