Here is a neat little 50 mm camera that is circa 1940, from what I've read, and comes with its original box and manual-- always a great thing.
It's mostly plastic and quite simple, and it came from Leecrest of Chicago.
It's the Candid Camera, which amuses me as Candid means Blunt (I think that they were thinking 'Straightforward' for it).
As another note of interest, it only took 16 pictures per roll of film.
Anyone know if this is a common camera or not?
Cameras of this type are quite common and most have little value, although the Leecrest itself is not one of the more common names. The Leecrest was distributed by Lee Industries (which sold several kinds of inexpensive items), but was almost certainly not actually made by Lee. The body style of the Leecrest is identical to the "Champion" and "President" cameras sold by "The Camera Man", also out of Chicago.

Thank you. I dismantled it and repaired a damaged spring in the shutter, and I then gave it a total clean. It looks great now.
