I went to a charity store last month and found a brooch marked 585. It was priced for $10. I told a lady who volunteers there it's gold and gave it back to her. I came back today and it's still in the jewelry display case without a price tag. The same lady sold it to me for $2. "What's meant to be yours will be yours" :)
That was very noble of you. Have it tested though, it's possible that the lady knew something you didn't.
Thank you davyd286! My neighbor tested it with acid a few times. You can tell how deep the scratch she made on tip of the wing in the picture #2. She even tested the pin/needle to make sure it's not gold plated.
