Brought over from Germany by my elderly landlady. Found it in her tool shed. I asked her what it was, as the more I looked at it, the more detail popped out. She said it was given to her by her neighbor in Germany. The story goes, he was in this bunker, and made a charcoal drawing of the moment. Because the charcoal drawing was fragile, he made one copy and framed it. I would love to know if relatives of this man would love to have this. At first it seems dark, but in the light such detail emerges.I love it. I have no idea what category to put this in...is it trench art? It is framed and is about 32 inches long.

Looks to be a print made of the original artwork. Probably commissioned after the war.

Agree it is a fascinating scene-- too bad about all of the damage issues.
