      possibly a rattan handle with metal base that hooked into the holes. Nice art work, I agree hobbyist, some used a lot of gilding on their porcelain pieces.

      In the US in the early 20th century there were some very talented ameteur decorators (Meaning they were not formally trained artists) who would form china decorating circles, ordering blanks from some of the finest china companies, in order to decorate them and show off their skills. I believe this is what these pieces are

      The one with holes probably had a ribbon threaded through it, so it could be hung on the wall
