I have a large Baccarat piece, measuring 12" high by 6" wide decorated with a lovely European scene. I see that most Baccarat opaline productions were done in floral. There is a small 1/4" hole cut in the center bottom, and it is missing what appears to have been metal trim along the top edge. I don't think it was a lamp as the opening at the top is 4" wide, but am confused by the hole at the bottom. Might anyone guess what it might have been, and share a date range for this piece?

    Many thanks!

I think it was was an electrified lamp … in a way the lighthouse gives it away too, I suppose. Wonderful.

VETRAIO50, I do think you are right, and I totally missed the lighthouse clue! I appreciate your thoughts on the piece.
