    Rooster clocks are very rare. On the hour the exposed painted tin mechanical rooster comes to life as the clock reproduces the roosters crow three times.

    With each call the cock leans back and opens his mouth in sequence with the call.

    The movement reproduces the roosters call by using friction. Emilian Wehrle was issues a patent for the design.

    Because of the loud obnoxious call that is produced at the top of each hour very few were ever sold... today they are one of the most desirable Black Forest clocks made during the second half of the 19th century.
