I'm not quite sure what this comes under so I'll say it's a display case, not sure what sort of wood it's made from, most of the inside partitions are missing, it still has its lock, no key. the prop to hold the lid open still works. on the right hand side of the lid is a small plate to take some sort of fitting, also the metal plate where the key goes in is missing.

Looks like it could be quarter sawn oak, the inside of the lid looks very interesting. The horizontal bands going from from side to the other are they slightly raised?
      It is very unique construction.

the bands are raised but 3 of them of them are missing the base seems to be some sort of pine (not sure)
