These are 2 metal jewelry boxes with red and purple felt.

Is the felt removable? I would think they were containers for face powder or cream.
it's glued to the bottom of the box. My thought on this is that it's a jewelry box, but still not sure.
A jewelry box would have its sides padded, too, to protect the jewelry, otherwise thay can be damaged if banged on the metal.
