My mom gave this to me- it was hers years ago, but she doesn't wear it and both of us have amethyst as our birthstone. Set in an interesting 10KT pendant, it is about an inch tall, not including the bail. I haven't worn it yet because I haven't found a chain skinny enough to go through it!!

Take a carpenters center punch and you can reshape the bail to a rounder shape that will increase the diameter of it to allow a larger chain through -
