Cartoon Ceramic Nippon Yoko Boeki Co. Dog Figurine

This is a really cute figurine I picked up, four and a half inches high, 3 inches at its widest. I don't know too much about ceramics, but always seem to buy a lot of them! Especially the animal figurines. His face reminds me of a 1930's cartoon, like Betty Boops dog, wide mouthed and big eyed. I found his marking to be from an apparently pretty common exporter in Japan. Anyway, he is still a mystery to me. any information/insight is greatly appreciated.
